How to Add Water to Traction Batteries?

As we all know, the application of forklifts is already very important in production, and many people pay attention to the service life of traction batteries. 1.Why do we need to add water to Traction Batteries? The electrolyte of the battery is prepared by mixing sulfuric acid and distilled water in proportion. The temperature of the battery rises during the use of the battery forklift, and the frequent charging and discharging will cause the electrolyte ratio to be imbalanced, and even the sulfuric acid concentration will increase and cause corrosion. Therefore, it should be given a regular supplement of the appropriate amount of distilled water to make up for water consumption. Only by supplementing the proper amount of distilled water, can the normal charge and discharge function of the electrolyte be maintained and the service life of the battery can be maintained. If the supplement is ordinary water, the impurities contained in it will be deposited on the electrode, resulting in insufficient charging or even unable to charge, so distilled water must be used. Apparently, It is very important to replenish water to forklift batteries. As a professional industrial battery company-VELA Power Technology CO.LTD, I will share the following topics including how to judge whether to add water or not, how to add water, important tips and special attentions.  2.How to judge whether the battery needs to be filled with distilled water?  In order to check whether the battery needs to be filled with distilled water or not, what you do first is just to open the cover on the top of the battery to see if there is any phenomenon of dryness inside the battery cover or whether the water volume reaches the warning line position. In addition, the battery plate is wrapped with white glass fiber cotton, which should be wet under normal conditions. 3.How to add water? the specific methods are as below: (1)Use a dropper to suck distilled water into the battery through the vent hole. If the electrolyte is not visible, fill up the water to soak the plate. You need to fully charge the battery before adding water again. After charging, unscrew the lid and check the electrolyte level and fill up the water to 1/8 inch from the water inlet. (2)Cover the vent hole with the water-filled battery with a breathable shield to prevent dust from falling into the vent hole. 4.Some Important tips. 1.It is best to use medical redistilled water. The principle of hydrating is better less than more. If it is not enough, it can be added. If it is too much, the proportion of acid will decrease, and the battery capacity will be insufficient. 2.Those who are inexperienced can suck it at 5ml per hole, and use glass or plastic straws for water replenishment tools. It is recommended to use a medical disposable syringe, which is convenient to use and measure. 3.About the water replenishment tool, Do not use any metal-containing equipment. The metal needle of the syringe should be removed and a plastic tube should be covered in order to use in the later time. 5.What are special attention? The water used to add to the battery for forklift must be distilled water. You should not choose drinking purified water instead of distilled water on account of cheap price. After all, purified water contains a variety of microelements which will cause bad effects on traction batteries. If the traction battery runs normally, only water can be added, and remember that electrolyte must not be added! If the traction battery is dumped and the electrolyte is drained, you can add the electrolyte. When doing this, you should notice that it is the same as the original electrolyte density. Sometimes the traction cannot be started. Many people think that it is caused by insufficient power storage so They often add electrolyte to the battery. The result is counterproductive and greatly shortens the service life of the battery to a large extent.
